Jumpin’ the gun Music: John the Revelator Lyrics: Tom Huissen Took out the hit He started to move Some kind of trick He laid his hands on a 302 I need to talk to you No, no, no come on Well you’d better lay low Junior jumped the gun real slow You got my word Let’s do it right Keep your eye on the ball Give it to my face, come on You’ve been so good to me Don’t you trust anyone Junior really jumped the gun Well it’s safe To assume Don’t spill your guts You may have run out Your string in New Jersey too Inside I know it hurts Well you’d better lay low Junior jumped the gun real slow Well wait a minute (baby) That kind of talk That’s what he dreaded and feared A lot on her plate come on At home she’d toss you out Don’t you trust anyone Junior really jumped the gun

Down in the mud (free) 03:05
Down in the mud Music: John the Revelator Lyrics: Tom Huissen Lord I went down to the river To see the river bed dried up The sky is full of thunder Please let me down in the mud Well you spit on the floor baby Rolled your eyes and turned away The storm clouds are passing Please let me down in the mud Lord I went for a dead end Kept on walking till nightfall The streets are all empty Please let me down in the mud After two days with my baby Looking for a ten cent ride All hungry and ready Please let me down in the mud

Darkened room Music and lyrics: Tom Huissen I am sitting alone In a dark, darkened room And I am going through another Long and sleepless doom I don’t wanna live here no more I don’t wanna live here no more And the curtains they are drawn They are drawn both day and night And my eyes they are sensitive Too sensitive to the light I don’t wanna live here no more I don’t wanna live here no more In the wee wee hours Of the morning scared and afraid Well I’m putting on my blue shades Hide and isolate I don’t wanna live here no more I don’t wanna live here no more I don’t wanna live here no more I don’t wanna live here no more

Depression 02:25
Depression Music and lyrics: Tom Huissen Sat in the house Closed the door Put on my music Fell down to the floor I couldn’t get up Stayed on the floor Not even the music Made sense anymore I was slippin’ into the dark recess of my depression Used up my fingers Stepped on my toes Didn’t want nobody Standing by close I stayed in bed Didn’t answer no call My whole world was turning Into a grey wall I was slippin’ into the dark recess of my depression Numb my senses Medicate my brain The High gave me mercy And strength to unchain I couldn’t get up Stayed on the floor Not even the music Made sense anymore I was slippin’ into the dark recess of my depression I was slippin’ into I was slippin’ into I was slippin’ into the dark recess of my depression

about

This album marks the 35th anniversary of the band. To make the album a special event we invited a couple of friends from past and present. A horn section by Bert Baars was led in. Further musical back up was done by Barrelhouse piano man Han van Dam together with Gus Laporte on guitar. Brainbox singer Kaz Lux lended his unique voice to Freddie King's 'Let the good times roll', 'Only getting second best' and to Peter Green's 'Before the beginning'. We invited Bintangs bassist/singer Frank Kraaijeveld for a couple of Howlin' Wolf songs. Then of course there is what you might call the regular Revelator-stuff, this time ranging from rather basic acoustic songs to songs with heavily arranged horn parts by the Alabama Horns. The last two tracks of the album ('Depression'and 'Darkened room') were written by a heavily jet lagged Tom Huissen who found himself awake in the middle of the night in some lousy hotel room in Miami. Former Revelator keyboardman Sjoerd Bosma plays piano on these tracks that were recorded in his Haarlem home because of the great acoustics.
